Modified Postgate’s B (MPB)

The NACE standard (TMO 194-2004) media used for the detection of General Anaerobic Bacteria (GAB). This media will appear turbid or have bio mass if GAB are present.

False Positive: If turbidity appears immediately upon inoculation in the first or second vial(s) than these vials should be counted as a false positive. The turbidity in the vials is most likely due to other constituents in the sample and not biogenic activity.

Physical Characteristics: Clear slight yellow in color and a bit more viscus than our other media.
