Rapid SRB Culture

The Rapid Sulfate Reducing Bacteria (SRB) culture test kit is used for the quick and easy detection of Sulfate Reducing Bacteria. This test has been designed for easy use in the field or without a proper lab setup. This rapid testing system contains 10 vials of culture media specifically formulated to promote the growth of Sulfate Reducing Bacteria. As Sulfate Reducing Bacteria grow sulfate is reduced to sulfide which then reacts with the dissolved iron in the media forming iron sulfide (a black precipitate). While the development of a black precipitate indicates the presence of SRB’s, the time in days it takes to turn indicates the perceived strength. The time lag, the length of time it take for the color to change, shows the strength or estimated bacterial count of the acid producing bacteria present.
